Introduction As described in the By-laws, the leadership of Southside Baptist Church consists of church officers, church committees and service groups, and other church positions. Annually, church leadership is assessed and new leadership is selected to serve for the year. The following identifies the church leadership elected by the congregation for the 2011/12 term. Unless otherwise noted, church leadership terms run from April–March of each year coinciding with the church fiscal year. The only exception to this rule is church education positions which run from August–July of each year coinciding with the regular school term. II. Church Officers As outlined by the By-laws (Article II), the Church Officers consist of the Board of Trustees, Board of Deacons, and other Church Officers. The 2011/12 officers were elected at the March 2011 church conference as recommended by the Board of Deacons. A. Board of Trustees The Board of Trustees is empowered by the by-laws to manage the assets of the church. (See Article II, Section 1)
B. Board of Deacons
The role of the Board of Deacons is to serve as the spiritual leaders of the church and to perform the other duties as specified in the by-laws. (See Article II, Section II)

C. Other Church Officers Other church officers are elected to fill their duties as specified in the by-laws. (See Article II, Sections 3-7)

Committee on Committees Committee on Committees establishes and defines church committees including determining the name, purpose, composition, and responsibilities.

![]() ![]() ![]() IV. Educational Nominating Committee and Positions The church educational year runs from August – July of each year. The Educational Nominating Committee is charged with securing positions for the director of Sunday
School, Sunday School department officers, as well as the director of Vacation Bible
School. The committee recommendations are voted on at church conference.
